Here is a list of five beauty products that can be found in the refrigerator and can do wonders for the skin:
Greek yogurt – Greek yogurt, cold out of the fridge will instantly provide a nice cooling affect when applied to the skin. It also provides many other benefits for the skin such as lactic acid which helps smooth and exfoliate the skin. This helps in revitalizing the the skin without the use of other potentially harmful chemical skin products. Yogurt is also a natural acne fighter because of its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, goodbye pimples!
Yogurt has been shown to help with facial discoloration and blotches. To get the full benefits from yogurt, be sure to use a thick yogurt (like Greek yogurt) 3 times a week as a facial, keeping it on the skin for at least 3o minutes before rinsing it off. Notice the difference!
Cucumbers – When you think of a facial, you likely think about the stereotypical face mask with the eyes covered in cucumber slices. So why are they doing this? Well, the antioxidants in cucumbers can help reduce dark circles, swelling, and puffiness under the eyes. Cucumber juice can immediately tighten your skin to help reduce wrinkles. Use cucumber with lemon juice to give your skin a glowing refreshing look!
Lemons –
lemons are packed with vitamin C, citric acid, potassium, and lutein. Lemon juice is used to treat blemishes, acne, and oily skin. Simply mix with water for a easy do it yourself toner, that will help minimize the size of large pores. Lemon juice is also thought to help reduce the amount of sebum (which is the oily substance that protects the skin from drying out). This is helpful if you have naturally oily skin.
Pineapple – Bursting with anti-oxidants, potassium, and vitamin C all of which are effective acne treatments. The real action from pineapple is from an enzyme called Bromeliad which can help exfoliate dead skin without drying out the skin. When you apply pineapple topically to your skin, you may feel a slight tingling sensation. This is the enzymes in the pineapple at work cleaning up your skin. It should be noted that it’s not advised to leave pineapple masks on the skin for more than 20 minutes as it’s very acidic, and prolonged exposure may cause irritation and redness – set your timer!
Avocado – is an amazing healthy fat but it is also a wonderful moisturizer! A facial mask with avocado will help hydrate and repair dry and damaged or sensitive skin. It will gently exfoliate and calm irritated skin, while naturally hydrating and providing essential nutrients for the skin. Avocado can be used as a facial mask, or as a conditioner for hair. It will leave both skin and hair soft and healthy!
