9 Simple Home Remedies To Get Rid of Dandruff
Dandruff is an annoying and an embarrassing hair condition that causes itchy, flaky scalp. Not only does it become difficult to wear dark colored clothes; it is also embarrassing and annoying scratching before the others. Moreover, persistent dandruff can also lead to hair loss. In most cases, dandruff results from yeast or ringworm-like infections which could spread from person to person. So today we will discuss some of the best ways of how to get rid of dandruff permanently in one wash.
Getting to the root of the problem is often times the main way to know how to naturally get rid of dandruff. People would want to have dandruff free hair. While the real reason for acquiring dandruff is unknown, there are times when some conditions have been associated with having dandruff.
1. Baking Soda:
Instead of your regular shampoo, use baking soda while washing your hair. Wet your hair and rub about a teaspoon of baking soda on your scalp and hair. Leave it on for a minute, and then rinse it off thoroughly. Keep doing this for two weeks. This remedy will stimulate your scalp to produce natural oil which will keep your scalp moisturized and free from dandruff.
2. Lemon Juice:
Apply lemon juice all over your scalp and leave it on for 20 to 25 minutes. It may cause itching, but this is normal. Wash your hair with shampoo and repeat as frequently as possible.
3. Epsom Salt:
The abrasive crystals of epsom salt exfoliate the scalp naturally and help eliminate dead skin flakes and extra oil. Dampen your scalp and massage epsom salt on it for 2-3 minutes. Finally, rinse off with shampoo.
4. Ginger:
The anti-inflammatory properties of ginger trigger the growth of hair and also keep dandruff under check. Take a ginger. Peel and grate it. Squeeze the ginger in a small bowl containing 4 ounces of sesame oil. Mix the ingredients and massage on your scalp. After sometime, rinse off with a mild shampoo.
5. Basil Leaves:
The antifungal and antibacterial properties of basil leaves make them an excellent home remedy for dandruff. Extract juice of basil leaves and mix it with the powder of Indian gooseberry leaves to make a paste. Apply it on the scalp and wash off with water after some time.
6. Fenugreek Seeds:
Roughly grind a tablespoon of fenugreek seeds using a mortar and pestle. Now add two cups of water to the seeds and allow them to soak for a while. At night before going to bed, apply this mixture on your hair and scalp; leave it overnight. Next day rinse it off with warm water.
7. Thyme:
Since thyme has antifungal and antiseptic properties, it is an excellent remedy to cure dandruff naturally. Take two cups of water in a bowl and add 4 tablespoons of dry thyme to it. Boil the water for 15 minutes. Then strain the solution and keep aside until it cools down. Apply the solution on the scalp and leave it for 3 hours. Wash it off with warm water.
8. Soap Nuts:
Soak 10-15 soap nuts in water for the whole night. Grind them in the morning and boil in water. Then strain it. Now add Indian gooseberry powder or juice to it. Add some water, if required, to make a paste. Wash off with a mild shampoo after 30 minutes.
9. Coconut Oil:
This dandruff treatment is best suited for dry hair. Apply some coconut oil on your scalp, massaging gently. Keep it on for at least an hour and then wash it off with shampoo.
